I LOVE Book Sales

One of our local libraries had its annual book sale/library fundraiser yesterday.  My husband and I were there bright and early, as were over 200 other book lovers.  I found so many wonderful books...a few of my favorites, a few classics, and many that I haven't read yet. Which of these would you recommend I start with?

Hmmm...choices, choices  :-)

  1. JANE EYRE! LOL - that's one of my favs! Gargoyle is on my TBR list - I've heard good things about it and it was recommended to me by a friend.

    1. Jane Eyre is one of the titles on my Classics Club Challenge list...I definitely want to read that one. I read The Gargoyle years ago and loved it. I'll be curious to hear what you think of it.

    1. Thank you for your recommendations. I have moved those to the top of the pile. I wish there were more hours in a day to devote to reading!

  3. Wow, what a haul! I am biased but Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell is one of my all time favourite books, so I would start there...

    1. Ooooh...good to know. I've heard positive things about it but haven't read it yet. Okay, it's going to join a few at the top of the "to read" pile. I am so excited about reading as many books as possible this summer! Thanks for your input~

  4. Oh my, Beth - yummy, yummy! I recommend A Prayer for Owen Meany, although you might feel you're making more progress on the pile if you start with The Help - it'll read faster.

    Have fun!

    1. Hi Debbie,
The Help is one of my favorites! I read it when it first came out...became so connected to the characters I didn't want the book to end. I just had to own a copy. I've been wanting to read A Prayer For Owen Meany for a long time...glad to hear you enjoyed it! I'll make sure to read it soon~

    1. Hi JoAnn,
Good to know that you enjoyed Garden of Eden. I thought it might be a good one to read for my Classics Club Challenge. Have you read other books by Hemingway that you enjoyed?

    1. Bingo...you hit the nail on the head! Luckily, my school year ends next week (I teach third grade) and this summer my plan is to read, read, read!

  8. Alice in Wonderland. Or at least skim through it. The characters are used over and over again by Hollywood, from the first Resident Evil movie to the first Matrix movie. Not the plots but the characters, who seem to be archetypes.

  9. That will be a fun one to read...the characters are so original and creative considering when the book was written.

  10. I love Jane Eyre and The Help is awesome (but I saw that you already read it). I watched the movie of A Prayer for Owen Meany so many times and cried my eyes out. Since I loved the movie so much I read the book a few years later and enjoyed it. It is so different from the the movie- but well writtten.

    1. Hi Jess,
I didn't even know there was a movie version of A Prayer For Owen Meany. I can't wait to read it. My school year just finished so I am planning to read all summer (so excited!)
